RECLAIMED BEAMS

Add warmth and honesty to your home with rustic pieces of history that cannot be replicated as no two beams are the same.

Reclaimed beams make a great addition to any indoor or outdoor project. With each reclaimed beam comes its own history, be it from an old schoolhouse, a turn of the century Manhattan building or a house of worship. Reclaimed beams are either hand-hewn or rough-sewn.

Hand-Hewn Beams were felled logs that were hewn into a beam shape using an axe and an adze. You will often hear hand-hewn beams being referred to as “hand adzed”. In addition to retaining the original axe marks, their character has been enhanced by nail holes, mortise holes, worm holes and checks.

Rough-Sawn Beams are typically Yellow Pine or Doug Fir and were used as structural supports in old factories and warehouses. They still hold the teeth marks from the saw blades that first milled the wood over a century ago.

Faux beam wraps

Faux Beam wraps provide the look and feel of reclaimed solid wood beams but are much lighter due to a hollow interior thus requiring less structural support for installation. Beam wraps are used for non-structural purposes and can be used to either wrap or disguise existing beams or as a new addition to your space. The rustic and rich character of the faux beam wrap replicates the look of the original solid beam perfectly.

Faux beam wraps can be ordered in two, three or four sides. Please call or email to learn more.
